When I was spiritually conceiving Beautiful Minds, I began with asking questions to provoke myself into a new level of awareness concerning the state of my mind. I warn you- when you get your mind deeply into these questions- they will confront you and bring a challenge! But at the same time, they will release the most incredible freedom as you work your way through them.
Before you read these- remember this. Your mind has been created by God to think deeply and to plug into thoughts that go beyond surface level. Your mind is an incredible creation with more power than you and I will ever appreciate. It can be your greatest weapon or your greatest foe. So we need to give space in our lives to nurture our minds and become increasingly conscious of what we are thinking.
#ONE What does the inside of my mind look like right now?
In those secret places, what I am really thinking about myself and who God is for me? Is my mind a place of peace and steadfastness or is it a place of anxiety, confusion and jumbled thoughts?
Philippians 4:8 Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
#TWO Do I spend enough time capturing my negative thoughts and replacing them with God’s Word?
To find the real you- you need to strip back your thinking to the essentials and discover your true identity and what you are capable of in Him. In order to achieve that- you and I need to spend time daily taking captive those rogue thoughts which take us down the wrong pathway. The only way to deal with a lie you live out of is to take it hostage and speak over it repetitively with God’s truth until it’s hold over you is broken
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.
#THREE Are there areas of defeated thinking in my mind?
How often do you dwell on thoughts which create a feeling of insecurity in you or a sense of hopelessness? Or thoughts that make you doubt that God is for you and has created a beautiful, strong future ahead of you?
Ephesians 4:22 Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
#FOUR How can I create more space in my day to reflect and confess who I really am and my spiritual position In Christ?
Activating this in my own life has literally changed internal thought tracks I had about myself as I have chosen to listen to my spirit and not my inner emotional world. Carve out daily time to speak over yourself who you are in Christ.
Romans 8:5-6 Those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. Letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
#FIVE How can I deepen my understanding of who I am In Christ so it’s more alive and living in me?
There is no substitute in this whole world for mediating on scripture and making it personal. Find a Bible reading plan, embark on a biblical study, pursue the truth. I run a Renewing your Mind course in our church in order to empower women and see LIFE breathed into them as they take hold of a deeper appreciation of who they are.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus (reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used) so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
You are a women called to live FULLY out of the real you. The YOU recreated by the Holy Spirit. You and I can live in a place of victory in our minds but we have to fight for it and to step into place of positive confession. So others are inspired to look at you and your beautiful mind and say : “I’ll have what she’s having’!!
